Crédit Agricole CIB has implemented a diversified product line strategy for the Spanish market, with the local presence of all the business lines of the Bank. Crédit Agricole CIB principally focuses towards the large corporates and public institutions. In 2005, marketing efforts out of Madrid expanded to include Portugal with a dedicated representative office.
CRÉDIT AGRICOLE CIB’S STRENGTHS
Crédit Agricole CIB has a leading position in all segments in which it is present on the Spanish market. In financing it leads among the foreign banks, both in syndication and structured finance transactions. In capital markets, Crédit Agricole CIB consistently ranks in the top 3 as lead manager of all euro-denominated bonds.
Crédit Agricole CIB has recently entered the investment banking market in the country. The Bank has focused towards the Spanish-French cross border transactions but it is also successful in the purely domestic transactions.
These strengths and prominent position are notably due to the efficient marketing approach led by the Senior Bankers towards a well-defined segmented customer base.
HISTORY AND ORGANISATION
The Crédit Agricole Group has had a banking presence in Spain since 1981. Since then and following the merger in 2004 with the integration of Crédit Agricole Indosuez and Credit Lyonnais (the oldest bank with presence in Spain dating the nineteenth century), the Bank has become one of the most important foreign banks on the Spanish market. All the business lines have a local presence to support the marketing activity, to structure transactions and provide an excellent execution capability.
