On 8th September 2014, the Prudential Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority authorised a branch licence to the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited (ICBC), China’s largest commercial bank. This is the first time a bank branch of a Mainland Chinese bank has been authorised in the UK since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
